Photo of Arthurs credited to David Giacalone
Richard Genest, the proprietor of the Market and the Cafe, operated the famous and former "Mother Earth's Cafe" in Albany, after moving from Ithaca, where he had founded the ABC Cafe over 30 years ago, which just recently discontinued operation.
Everyone is welcome at the market. All are encouraged to give appropriate gratuities to the performers, who work only for tips.
To help promote Arthur's Market, Mr. Giacalone has donated the use of his photos on notecards, postcards, calendars and similar items that are available to buy at Arthur's.
